PIABC Level 5 Diploma in Packaging Technology

Diploma students are from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines and are typically experienced practitioners or managers in technical, sales/marketing, QA, purchasing, engineering or design. The Diploma is a Level 5 qualification and students should understand that this is a detailed course, and will therefore usually have an education of at least up to UK ‘A’ level standard and/or relevant industry experience.

The Diploma course is divided into four units, and students must satisfactorily complete all units to gain the Diploma. However students may choose to study individual units if preferred, to gain a Certificate of Achievement.

Successful completion of this course prepares students for progression in the packaging industry to a position where they can assume responsibility for packaging in a company at any point in the supply chain.
The course is assessed by four examinations and a 5000-7500 word project.

The course can be studied online, classroom at IOM3 Training Academy or classroom on tour around the Midlands visiting various relevant sites

PIABC Level 3 Certificate in Packaging

Delegates to the Certificate in Packaging come to the course from a variety of areas with 3 - 12 months experience. You may be embarking on a career within the industry and looking for the training that will provide you with a solid base of information that you can build on.

The course consists of a mandatory unit taught in class or online and assessed by examination, followed by a student’s choice of further units from the twelve on offer, which are taught online and assessed by written assignments.

Evaluators Qualification in Packaging Technology (EQIPT)

This is a course for auditors without a packaging qualification who wish to carry out audits on companies seeking approval against a packaging standard.

It comprises a core of general packaging knowledge followed by option modules in each of the four major packaging materials – paper and board; plastics; glass and metal.

The course is assessed by an examination for the core and a 2000 word assignment for each of the options. To gain the certificate you need to select two different material areas in which you audit but if you would like to add to the materials you can audit you can simply undertake additional assignments and submit once the course is complete for an additional fee.
